Welcome to the support page for your GENDER STEREOTYPES topic
linked to your Level 3 Assessment sheet provided to you by your teacher.
A quick way to find out more about gender stereotypes is to do an internet search but remember to think critically about which websites you use. For example, the EPIC databases are probably more reliable than Wikipedia. Wikipedia has great coverage of many topics, including the topics below, but you need to be aware that this information is contributed to by lots of different people. If you are using this site, it always pays to check the information against that on other sites or in books from the library.
Using a clustering search engine (such as Carrot2) or a pre-checked search engine (such as SweetSearch) rather than relying on a 'JGI' (Just Google It) approach is a more time effective strategy. You will still need to assess the websites you find for suitability - assess your sites using the CRAP test. :)

Just for starters ... what do you think are your views on gender stereotyping?
Do you think you are a traditional "Everyone-has-a-role-and-they-should-stay-there" thinker or a liberal "I-accept-everyone-for-who-they-are" thinker, or somewhere in between? Watch these videos and think about your prejudices ...
Would this have happened to boys do you think? |
Is Conchita a man or a woman? Does it matter? |
Because we have access to databases that are not available to students, we have printed off a large number of articles which will be held at the desk for you to copy, scan or read. Just ask. :)
